City’s Communications and Engagement team shortlisted for national award

The City’s Communications and Engagement team have been shortlisted for Government Team of the Year at the 2025 Golden Target Awards.

The awards are Australia’s longest running and most prestigious industry awards for communications and public relations, and the Government Team of the Year award recognises the best communications and public relations teams in government agencies and departments across the country.

The team’s nomination included the popular ‘For a Day’ video series, which has also been nominated for an Australian Marketing Institute award and an AIM WA Pinnacle Award, the Born in Subi campaign which ran during Subi Blooms x Gather 2025 and invited people who were born in Subiaco to share their stories, and the City’s leadership in three communication categories in the most recent MARKYT Community Scorecard, recognising the City’s quarterly print magazine Talk About Subi, fortnightly e-newsletter Subiaco Snapshot, and online engagement platform Have Your Say Subiaco.

Mayor David McMullen commended the team on this recognition.

“The City’s Communications team consistently produce high quality content across a wide range of communication channels to keep our community informed, educated, and entertained. As Mayor and spokesperson for the City, I know firsthand the value that this team brings us.

“To be the only local government team in Australia shortlisted for this particular award is a real achievement.”

The winner of the award will be announced in a ceremony in late October 2025.
