Children’s Book Week® is an annual celebration of Australian children’s literature, authors and illustrators; this year’s theme is
READ, GROW, Inspire.
From Monday 21 August, Subiaco Library will welcome special presenters to help lead workshops, events and talks, including HM Waugh, Kylie Howarth, Peter Cheong, Cheryl Kickett-Tucker and Sean E Avery for local primary school students.
This is an opportunity to meet well-loved local creatives, learn about the joys of writing, discover how to become published, and explore where authors and illustrators find their inspiration and ideas.
To celebrate reading the Children’s Book Week® Book of the Year, shortlisted titles will be on display at the library. Join in the Subiaco Book Week Scavenger Hunt to celebrate creativity and inspire reading.
There will be no Baby Rhymetime and Storytime sessions during Children’s Book Week® (21 to 25 August) due to school visits, but sessions in the following week (from 28 August) will ensure pre-schoolers still have a chance to celebrate by encouraging them to dress as their favourite book character.
