National Reconciliation Week takes place from Tuesday 27 May to Tuesday 3 June - here are some opportunities to celebrate within the City of Subiaco.
On Thursday 29 May, there will be a Cultural Awareness Workshop at Subiaco Library. This two-hour workshop from 10am to 12pm will reflect on the National Reconciliation Week theme for 2025, 'Bridging Now to Next', and offer opportunities to reflect on our nation's journey toward reconciliation. This event is currently sold out with a waitlist - there will be future workshops, so stay tuned on our events page.
Subiaco Museum's current artist in residence, Dana Garlett, wraps up her exhibition 'Becoming Djida' on Saturday 31 May. Pop in to see her exhibition, which shares Dana's personal story of her connection to family and country through her artwork, from Wednesday to Friday 12pm to 4pm, or on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
On Saturday 31 May, the library is also hosting a sold-out Aboriginal Basket Weaving Workshop hosted by Emma-Jane, a Yindjibarndi and Djaru woman who teaches techniques using wool and raffia with a contemporary twist.
