The Subiaco Library’s celebration of Children’s Book Week® has proven to be a resounding success, with more than 900 students, teachers, and parents taking part in the two-week program this August.
The team ran more than 14 sessions to immerse school age children into the world of literature and creativity, and welcomed students from Rosalie, Jolimont and Subiaco primary schools.
Program highlights included local authors and illustrators – Renae Hayward, Renée Treml, Frané Lessac, Mark Greenwood, and Aśka – whose sessions received a deluge of positive feedback from attendees.
All the presenters focused on empowering the audience to write, draw and create, with practical takeaways for maximum impact.
Library staff also surprised attendees by dressing up as their favourite book characters.
The success of this year’s Book Week program was supported by a grant from the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s WA branch.
