Bike Plan endorsed by Council

The Bike Plan 2021-25 was endorsed by Council at this week’s meeting.

The plan identifies key opportunities to improve the City’s cycling network and helps set priorities for future cycling infrastructure investment.

It also helps inform the City on how to best implement improvements to the benefit of all cyclists while being conscious of the potential impacts on the broader Subiaco community.

The community contributed significantly throughout the development of the plan and helped determine the priority ranking of each project.

“I’m pleased that so many people provided their input into the Bike Plan," Mayor Penny Taylor said.

“This plan is an important step in encouraging more people to take up cycling which, in turn, leads to positive environmental, social and health impacts for our cyclists as well as the wider community.”

The plan includes a number of projects across the City, including safety improvements for existing cycling infrastructure, Safe Active Streets and Bike Boulevards, and shared path extensions.

The community was engaged to provide feedback and input on the draft plan with 44 submissions received via an online survey.

The Bike Plan 2021-25 aligns with the objectives of the Strategic Community Plan which was informed by extensive community consultation, as well as the City’s Sustainability and Resilience Strategy, Subiaco Place Plan and Positive Ageing Plan.
