Award nominations for the City
The City has received a number of award nominations on the national stage for our work in the economic development space.
These are the National Event Award at the Australian Event Awards and Symposium, and the Economic Development Strategic Thinking Award – as part of the Economic Development Australia Limited Awards for Excellence 2024.
The City’s annual iconic Mother’s Day weekend event, Subi Blooms, was nominated for the first award, recognising it as an outstanding example of creativity, innovation, and best practice.
The latter award recognises best practice strategies where economic development outcomes are the leading factors influencing the approach adopted.
Projects included Walmsley Windows, the Subiaco Object Exchange, Public Realm Integrated Art at Postal Walk, ARTFORM Magazine and immersive art experiences as part of Subi Blooms 2024.
Mayor David McMullen said that these nominations are a chance to acknowledge the City's work in the promotion of economic development.
“These awards recognise leadership and excellence in economic development. If the City is successful, it will be fitting recognition of the positive impact which our economic development activities are having for the local economy, our community and for wider Perth,” he said.
“Even if we don't bring home the top prize, the fact we are the only WA finalist in the 'Economic Development Strategic Thinking' category provides great encouragement for our ongoing economic development initiatives.”
Winners for both awards will be announced next month.
