Administration Centre closure due to fire

Early this morning (Tuesday 6 September), the City was alerted to a fire in its server room in the Administration Centre.

The fire was extinguished before it could spread or cause additional damage.

As it was early morning, no one was in the building so all staff are safe.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and Western Power attended and conducted their preliminary investigations. The City’s electrical and engineering contractors are now conducting additional investigations to determine the cause. There are no suspicious circumstances.

As a result of the fire, all organisation systems (including phone systems) are currently offline, but Subiaco Library and Lords Recreation Centre are still operating. Some services at the library and Lords may be affected though so we ask that you are patient with our staff during this time.

All outdoor staff are continuing work as usual and staff who usually work in the Administration Centre are working from home where possible.

Staff are in the process of restoring systems and data, and a deep clean of the building will be undertaken to get rid of the resultant smoke.

We expect this inconvenience will last at least two days, but we will provide regular updates as to when our Administration Centre is operating again.

Our after-hours call centre will be handling calls during this time. They can be reached on 9237 9222. There will be a delay in response times during this time. We apologise for the inconvenience.
