2022 Photographic Award winners

The 2022 Photographic Award winners were announced on Monday 9 May, and this year, four Subiaco residents took out a number of categories with their creative photography.

Seven photographers picked up awards across four main categories – ‘Mobile’, ‘Open’, ‘Subiaco’ and for the first time this year a ‘Resident’ category – as well as children and youth award winners.

The overall winner was local photographer Beth Baker, whose minimalist black and white image Another Wave captures the somber mood and impact of COVID-19. You can view Beth's photograph at the top of this page.

Helen Potter took out the Subiaco category with her creative shot of some quirky Subiaco street art. This year, a Subiaco Residents prize was also introduced. Stephen Brown won this category with his entry The Boys of Summer inspired by Max Dupain.

Bob Hawke College student Ashley Knight won the Youth category with another black and white image titled Isolation.

These images are amongst 76 finalists’ photographs on display at Subiaco Library until 29 May.

Exhibition visitors can put themselves in the judges’ shoes by voting for their favourite entry in the People’s Choice Award.
