Fire and Emergency Management
The City recommends downloading the new Emergency WA app to your smart device via the App Store or Google Play. Users can opt in to receive near real-time information, alerts and warnings on incidents occurring near them including bushfires, storms and other hazards.

Fire prevention
Fires cannot be lit in the open air
between 2 November and 30 April each year when the fire danger rating forecast is ‘Catastrophic’, ‘Extreme’, or ‘High’. This includes the use of fire pits, wood or charcoal burning barbeques, wood fired pizza ovens, smokers, or similar.
Gas and electric barbeques, where any flame is encapsulated within the appliance, are exempt and can be used year-round, while taking appropriate precautions.

Bush fire
Are you bush fire ready?
Between 1 November and 31 March each year, ensure your property is fire safe by keeping grass below 5cm in length, making sure trees and shrubs near structures are appropriately pruned and roofs and gutters are free of flammable material.

The burning of garden refuse is strictly prohibited within the City of Subiaco, at all times.
Emergency Management
The City belongs to the Western Central Local Emergency Management Committee (WC-LEMC) which is a non-operational cooperative group that carries out emergency management planning activities and maintains local emergency management arrangements. The WC-LEMC is comprised of the following local governments:

- Town of Claremont
- Town of Cottesloe
- Town of Mosman Park
- City of Vincent
