What’s next for LPS5?
Friday 13 July 2018

Public consultation on the city’s draft Local Planning Scheme No. 5 and draft Local Planning Strategy has now closed. Thank you to those who took part.

During the consultation period more than 500 community members attended open days to understand the proposed changes to the planning rules in their neighbourhoods.

Hundreds of community members shared their thoughts and comments on the draft scheme and strategy through the formal submission process. Final numbers are still being tallied.

The next step
The city now has four months to collate and evaluate all the responses received in order to identify issues and trends raised by the community. Council will consider all feedback and make a recommendation which will be sent to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) for consideration.

Once submitted, the WAPC has four months to consider the local planning scheme and submit its recommendation to the Minister for Planning, who is the final decision-maker on the scheme.
