Community members recognised for contribution to important project
Tuesday 10 November 2020

The City of Subiaco is helping to raise awareness and educate the community about the serious issue of elder abuse through the Purple Road Project.

The project encourages people to contribute to a growing ‘road’ of handmade knitted and crocheted flowers, with each flower representing someone’s story and symbolising the prevention of elder abuse.

Today the City presented a certificate of recognition to the Subiaco Yarn Club for their invaluable contribution to this important community project (pictured below).

Shenton Park’s Clickety Clack craft group and a number of individual community members also contributed hundreds of flowers to the project since it commenced on 27 August.

The road is being displayed at Subiaco Library until 13 November for Seniors Week and will travel around aged care centres and seniors events in Subiaco over the coming months.
