City brings moments of joy to community, plus additional community support
Tuesday 12 May 2020

The City is supporting our community in several ways during the ongoing pandemic, including delivering moments of joy to our residents.

On Friday and Saturday evening, the City brought a surprise opera performance to the residents of Rupert Street and St Ives Retirement Village respectively.

Fiona, the Phantom Opera Singer, was supported by local business Hire Society to deliver unique street performances to people on their driveways and balconies, bringing some much needed joy to our community.

The City is seeking expressions of interest for local Subiaco based visual artists and performers to provide more ‘moments of joy’ to the community and give people to opportunity to connect with others through art.

The initiative also gives artists and performers the opportunity to work in a time when many cultural events have been postponed or cancelled.

Funding of up to $1000 per applicant for materials and artist fees is available. You can apply online.

Additional support for the community during this time, includes:

  • rates relief and financial hardship consideration,
  • financial support for young people for personal or professional development,
  • phone check-ins for elderly and vulnerable, and
  • community grants to support social connection, inclusion and resilience in our community.
