Subiaco Library held its first digital National Simultaneous Storytime event last week, with 90 Subiaco Primary School students tuning in at the same time.
The City’s video featured librarian Neale at the helm reading Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford, with a special introduction from City of Subiaco CEO Rochelle Lavery.
The students then followed up storytime by creating beautiful artwork pieces based on the book.
More widely, the City’s Facebook video attracted almost 500 views from locals.
“We had a great time participating in National Simultaneous Storytime – thank you for supporting us to participate,” one Subiaco Primary School teacher said.
“All staff reported that it was great seeing the CEO as well as yourself reading the story and said it was a very fun and engaging experience!
“Thank you for helping us to feel connected to the community during these times.”
National Simultaneous Storytime had almost 1.3 million participants across Australia and New Zealand this year, despite restrictions due to COVID-19. The event aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.
