Free parking ends Tuesday 30 June
Tuesday 16 June 2020

The City of Subiaco’s free parking initiative, which was introduced to support health care and essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, will end in two weeks.
With restrictions easing and more people returning to work, pressure on traffic and parking is increasing.
Free parking was introduced on 1 April and will be in place until Tuesday 30 June, inclusive. Paid parking and parking compliance will return to normal after that.
Mayor Penny Taylor said she was proud of the City’s support for health care workers during the pandemic.

“Free parking provided much needed support for nurses, hospital administration staff and essential workers who were required to continue working throughout the crisis,” she said.

“Parking has been free for almost three months and during the crisis, the City significantly reduced compliance activities to provide relief to the community.

“Now, with things starting to return to normal, we want to ensure that access to parking is fair,” Mayor Taylor said.

“Businesses need our support now, and we need to ensure their customers have access to parking. Residents should also have fair access to parking in their streets.”

Free parking on evenings and weekends in City carparks will continue after July.

The free parking initiative has provided an estimated $437,000 of parking support for staff in surrounding hospitals and essential workers in Subiaco offices. The initiative was part of the City’s $4 million COVID-19 response.
