New grants to help Subi get back to business
Wednesday 1 July 2020

The City has launched a winter grants program to help local food and beverage, arts and recreation, retail, and tourism-based businesses get back to what they do best this winter in the wake of easing COVID-19 restrictions.

Part of the See Subiaco winter marketing campaign, Roam Subiaco this winter, the grants will give eligible businesses $500 towards items, services or experiences to attract visitors to the town centre and help them cosy up this season.

Projects to be considered include winter events, unique activations, and outdoor seating, heating, shelter or lighting.

The City has cut red tape since the pandemic began to enable businesses to adapt quickly and these grants will be no exception, with the City providing payment to successful applicants in advance of their project.

Mayor Penny Taylor said the City had stepped up to support local businesses in a number of ways during the pandemic.

“Local businesses are vital to our community and our City’s vibrancy and identity, and it’s so important that we provide immediate and long term support to them to ensure they come out the other side of this stronger than ever,” she said.

“I encourage not just locals, but also those who haven’t visited in a while, to stop by our unique and leafy corner of Perth and rediscover Subi this winter.”

The grants are in addition to the $4M relief package announced at the beginning of April and the City’s business resilience program which provides tailored support for local businesses to help them through the immediate challenges they’re facing as well as the recovery phase.
