Curtain opens for junior soccer – new safety netting at Rosalie Park
Thursday 20 February 2020

Subiaco City Junior Soccer Club has received a State Government Grant and City approval to install a retractable netting curtain that provides a safer space for kids playing sport.

The safety netting will be installed near the western side of Rosalie Park in April and will create a retractable barrier between the playing surface and the carpark and access road.

The new netting was identified as a safety improvement measure to prevent children from chasing soccer balls down the embankment and into the carpark and driveway during training sessions and fixture games.

The change will also enable training to be conducted in areas that are currently underused due to safety concerns.  This will help alleviate overcrowding on Rosalie Park, while creating opportunities to increase participation and reduce wear on existing high traffic areas.

The retractable netting will be used during the soccer season from April to September and during school holiday activities.

Subiaco Junior Soccer Club received the grant as part of the Stronger Communities Program, administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development.
