Subiaco business brings back the good old corner shop for locals
Tuesday 7 April 2020

Despite the tough times, Subiaco businesses are continuing to serve the community with many adapting to changing customer needs.

The Corner Store – formally St Lucy’s – is one such business that has undergone a transformation in recent weeks to become a good old fashioned corner store while still serving up their much-loved coffee and treats.
Co-owner Hamish Cockburn said while their offering had been evolving well before coronavirus hit, the transformation was a logical choice in the current environment and something locals were calling for.
“We’ve seen a growing need for the basics such as milk, eggs, pasta, rice and fresh fruit and veg along with home essentials,” he said.
“We’ve had an incredible amount of local support and traction – our local community has been extremely supportive of the positive changes and developments. A good old corner store seems spot on.”
As well as stocking local produce and dry goods, The Corner Store is also working hard behind the scenes with local suppliers to expand their offering further and deliver fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables before long.
As a previous small business grant recipient, Hamish said he has always received support and encouraging input from the City, especially during this difficult time, and hopes to continue working with the City to expand more in the future.

You can find The Corner Store at 2/337 Rokeby Road, Subiaco.
