The Council has endorsed the draft parklet and outdoor dining policy this week, which will guide the future development of parklets for business use, contributing to a strong and vibrant town centre for Subiaco.
The draft policy is an action out of the City’s Place Plan, which was developed with extensive community and business consultation, and will allow the City to approve parklets and outdoor dining structures in a clear and consistent manner.
As part of the approval process for both parklets and outdoor dining structures, affected properties will be directly consulted by the City and proposals advertised prior to giving approval.
City of Subiaco Mayor Penny Taylor said the endorsement of this policy would contribute positively to the realisation of the community’s vision from the Strategic Community Plan for Subiaco to be a unique, popular and welcoming place for businesses, residents and visitors.
“Parklets have been used around the world to increase vibrancy, support local business and foster community engagement, and I have no doubt this policy will help to achieve all this and more in Subiaco town centre over time,” she said.
