National Homelessness Week
Sunday 4 August 2019

National Homelessness Week 2019 runs from Sunday 4 August to Saturday 10 August, with the theme, Housing Ends Homelessness.

The City is running initiatives and events to support and raise awareness of homelessness in our community.
Like many busy inner city locations, Subiaco can be an attractive area for vulnerable community members to sleep rough. There are a number of people who call Subiaco home, but not all of them have a house. For a variety of reasons people may be homeless or have no fixed address.  Homelessness is a complicated issue that requires cooperation between many organisations and individuals.

The City works in partnership with The Salvation Army Floreat to provide outreach services to people in our community who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. These services initially consist of providing supplies such as food and essential toiletry kits as well as longer term assistance in finding housing and access to other community services.

The City is also collaborating with neighbouring local governments; including Perth and Vincent, sector community organisations and the State Government to identify issues and implement an action plan to address these.

As well as Local Government action, community support is vital when it comes to addressing homelessness. You can help by participating in and supporting City events and initiatives during Homelessness Week.

Portrait of Homelessness – Challenges and Opportunities

Join the City for a presentation by three guest speakers on the challenges of homelessness in our community and the opportunities to contribute to the solution. Thursday 8 August, 6pm.
