The City of Subiaco’s Manager of Planning Services, Alexander Petrovski has been awarded 2019 Planner of the Year by the Local Government Planners Association.
Mr Petrovski was recognised for his outstanding professionalism and leadership during the City’s draft Local Planning Strategy and draft Local Planning Scheme No. 5 review.
Mr Petrovski provided leadership to a team of ten planning professionals throughout the process which included two public consultations, 1600 public submissions and strong community and media interest.
His professional advice and leadership helped the City respond to the Western Australian Planning Commission with modifications to the scheme which removed blanket densities and protect valued character and heritage streetscapes.
President of the Local Government Planners Association, Joslin Colli said the award recognised Mr Petrovski for his unwavering commitment to following due process and his excellent leadership in community and stakeholder engagement.
“Mr Petrovski has unquestionably demonstrated his commitment to the betterment of the Local Government planning industry while providing an exemplar level of professionalism and leadership that all Local Government planners should aspire to,” she said.
The City of Subiaco Director Community and Development Services Marion Morton said the award acknowledged Mr Petrovski’s professional efforts during a time of great pressure.
“Mr Petrovski is an excellent leader with expert State and local planning knowledge. This award is a testament to the way he conducts himself professionally and his inclusive, fair and considered engagement efforts with the community,” Ms Morton said.
The Local Government Planning Association is an industry association which advocates for and promotes sound local planning and professional development for local government town planners and associated professionals.
