Earlier this year, the City of Subiaco and the State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to key priorities for the redevelopment of Subiaco East.
The MOU, which has been published online, confirms the retention of the Subiaco Oval playing surface for shared use by the new Inner City College, the community, the city - to alleviate pressure on existing playing areas and with other relevant bodies.
The inclusion of a 'green belt' to link Mueller Park to the Subiaco Oval playing surface is also included in the MOU along with the following key priorities which will shape the master planning:
- traffic, transport, parking and access
- design excellence
- heritage interpretation
- active recreation space.
The city is working to get the best outcomes for the community and is part of the Precinct Liaison Committee which provides input into the master planning of the project. The Committee is made up of representatives from relevant State Government departments and local stakeholders.
Construction is underway for the new Inner City College situated next to Subiaco Oval. The State Government has submitted a development application to the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority for the demolition of the Subiaco Oval grandstands. The application is open for public comment until Wednesday 19 September.
