The Pavilion Markets site on the corner of Rokeby and Roberts roads has been purchased by West Australian company Blackburne Property Group.
Blackburne has announced its intention to turn the 5451m2site into a residential, retail, restaurant and entertainment precinct.
City of Subiaco Mayor Penny Taylor said a commitment to development at this landmark location was good news for the Subiaco community.
“I’m really pleased to hear that Blackburne has bought the Pavilion Markets site. This is exciting news and everyone in Subiaco wants something to happen on this site.
“I’m looking forward to the developer working with the City of Subiaco on what will be an important addition to our city.
“Blackburne has a reputation for quality built form developments and successful, timely projects in Western Australia.
“This project will bring welcome jobs and additional vibrancy to Subiaco,” Mayor Taylor said.
An approved Local Development Plan exists over the Pavilion Markets site until October 2025, which allows for a 16-storey building at its tallest point, with three to eight storeys on the rest of the site. Council supported an extension to the approved Development Application in November last year.
