The city has listened to community feedback about the future direction of Rokeby Road South and will now begin detailed precinct planning to help guide the future of planning and development in that area.
During the consultation period for Scheme Amendment No. 35, the city received a substantial response from the community raising a number of valid planning matters. Initial analysis of submissions on draft Local Planning Scheme No. 5 (LPS5) also indicates that the proposed approach for Rokeby Road South still requires careful consideration.
The city will now work with a consultant and the local community to better understand the community’s wishes for the area, and form a vision for Rokeby Road South that can be translated into planning guidelines.
At the same time, the draft Rokeby Road South Streetscape Masterplan will be informed by the precinct planning - with community input - to ensure that planning and design for the public realm, including roads, footpaths, streetlight and open spaces, is considered holistically with planning changes for private land.
The results of this work will be used to inform council’s consideration of Scheme Amendment No. 35 and LPS5.
