Heritage Conservation and Sustainable Building Awards
Thursday 17 May 2018

The owners and architects of three City of Subiaco homes have been recognised across two categories at the 2018 Heritage Conservation and Sustainable Building Awards this week.

The awards recognise the conservation of Subiaco’s colourful history, reflected in its heritage buildings and places.

The winner of the Adaptation of a Heritage Place category was 201 Railway Road, Subiaco, designed by MSG Architects. At this property, the combined former store and residence has been retained and sensitively adapted to accommodate the owners’ traditional Chinese medicine practice.

A commendation in this category was awarded to 27 Hopetoun Terrace, Shenton Park, which reflects the owners’ appreciation of the original streetscape context of the property and the traditional character of this part of Shenton Park. The residence combines modern materials with traditional details.

The winner of this category was 88 Heytesbury Road, Subiaco, which was designed by Luigi Rosselli Architects. The project demonstrates the successful management of scale, massing and materials to allow a larger, modern residential building to sit respectfully within a traditional streetscape
