City of Subiaco CEO Don Burnett has announced his resignation to take up a leadership role at another local government.
Mayor Penny Taylor thanked Mr Burnett for his contribution to the city and said she anticipated a smooth transition.
“On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank Don for his hard work and dedication since he started with the city in October 2015.
“Don has had to make some tough decisions as CEO and has delivered each of these with the best outcomes for Subiaco in mind.
“Council and the administration will continue to work together to provide strong leadership on key projects affecting our community. I’m confident that our team is well placed to carry on good operations as normal as we commence the process for a new CEO,” Mayor Taylor said.
Mr Burnett acknowledged Subiaco staff and elected members, and said the new role would provide him with different challenges in his local government career.
“I’d like to thank the staff for their hard work. The way they’ve been able to work through challenges like the City of Perth Act and still deliver a good outcome for the community is testament to their dedication and professionalism.
“I wish the Council all the best for the future. In my new role I will continue to work closely with the City of Subiaco through WESROC, and look forward to this continuing relationship,” he said.
Mr Burnett has accepted the role of CEO at the Shire of Peppermint Grove.
Council will start a formal recruitment process for a new chief executive.
