The fire season runs from 30 November 2017 to 31 March 2018 which means it’s time to ensure your home does not present a fire hazard. During fire season vegetation on vacant sites and unkempt properties can become significantly dry, exacerbating the threat of fire.
To keep your neighbourhood safe, and to comply with the Local Government Act, residents are required to ensure overgrown vegetation, rubbish or disused material is removed from the property.
Follow these simply steps will help reduce the risk of fire around your property:
Ensure grass is no greater than five centimetres high
Clean roofs and gutters, clearing them of flammable materials
Dispose of or stow away disused materials.
