Top honours for Forrest Square car park redevelopment
Thursday 17 November 2016

Forrest-Square.jpgThe City of Subiaco took out top honours in the Excellence in Car Park Refurbishment category for the upgraded Forrest Square car park at the 2016 Parking Industry Awards last week, edging out competition from other car park redevelopments around Australia.

The city was commended on the flexibility of parking options, the integration of technology, improve parking efficiency and sustainable design in the creation of a dynamic space that supports the needs of the surrounding area.

City of Subiaco Mayor Heather Henderson said that the city is extremely proud to have won the award and it reflects the city’s strong progression in parking and the hard work being done to address issues facing the Subiaco Town Centre.
“Recognition from Parking Australia about the work we’re doing is a sign we’re moving in the right direction. We’re thrilled to have taken home the win and the transformation of Forrest Square into a shopper car park and event space.” Mayor Henderson said.
The five month redevelopment was completed in May this year offering motorists access to 101 standard bays, 2 ACROD bays, 2 motorcycle bays, bicycle and rest facilities, and use of EasyPark mobile parking technology that allows you to pay for your parking using a mobile device and top up as required.

EasyPark technology is now available in all of the city’s car parks. Other parking initiatives include a twelve-month trial of three-hour free parking in the Rowland Street carpark behind Rokeby Road commencing on 1 December and installation of improved wayfinding signage throughout the town centre.
