Citizenship ceremonies

COVID-19 update

In line with the latest advice from the Department of Home Affairs, The City is working on a COVIDsafe plan to resume in-person citizenship ceremonies. We will aim to accommodate all conferees at the next ceremony, the date of which is yet to be determined. Your patience whilst we facilitate this is appreciated.

City of Subiaco residents who choose to become Australian citizens are invited to attend the city's citizenship ceremonies. This is the final step to becoming an Australian citizen.

The ceremonies offer new citizens an opportunity to connect their cultural past with their new community. Candidates make a pledge of commitment in groups and are presented with their citizenship certificate. At the close of formalities, the national anthem is sung all together followed by morning tea.

The city hosts three ceremonies each year. One ceremony is hosted on Australia Day followed by two during the year. They are usually held on a Saturday morning in the Shenton Park Community Centre.
