Start the New Year with some gypsy swing in Subiaco
Thursday 28 December 2017

Voudou-ZAZOU_Web-Image-(1).jpgAfter a short break for Christmas and New Year, the sunset@subi concerts will be back with some Parisian jazz at Theatre Gardens on Sunday 7 January. Kick off 2018 with swingin’ Perth-based outfit Voudou ZAZOU, which takes its name from the sharply-dressed French jazz fans of the 1940s – the zazous.

Voudou ZAZOU’s music is inspired by Belgian-born, Romani French jazz guitarist and composer, Django Reinhardt, and will transport you to 1940s Paris. As well as their own original musical ‘voodoo’, the group’s repertoire combines classical gypsy-jazz tunes with more contemporary pieces.

Lead singer Coo Jarvis will be joined on stage by Mark Wearing on accordion, Andy Jarvis on guitar and Sid Hennessey on double bass. Bring your friends, family and neighbours and enjoy an afternoon of upbeat gypsy swing with a vocal twist.

The sunset@subi free community concerts are held every Sunday until 11 February from 5pm to 7pm at four different outdoor venues within the City of Subiaco. They are suitable for all ages and concert-goers are encouraged to pack a picnic dinner and head to the venue from 5pm.
