Road Ribbon for Road Safety
Monday 4 December 2017

Poster-A4-Wear-a-Road-Ribbon-2017.jpgThe City of Subiaco is participating in the Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign.

The seven week campaign runs until Friday 5 January 2018 and supports the State Government’s Towards Zero vision of a road transport system with no serious and fatal road accidents.

This year alone there have already been 128 road fatalities in Western Australia. Between 2010 and 2014 almost 40,000 people were hospitalised due to road traffic accidents, costing the state more than $71 million.
The aim of Road Ribbon for Road Safety is to improve road safety through four cornerstones: safe road use, safe roads and roadsides, safe speeds, and safe vehicles.

Everyone plays an active role in achieving zero deaths and injuries on the road by promoting road safety and taking care during the festive season. Here are some quick and easy ways you can help keep roads safe and contribute working Towards Zero over the holiday season:

  • Turn off your mobile phone before driving.

  • Adapt your speed for the weather, light, traffic and road conditions.

  • Buckle up when travelling in a vehicle.

  • Take a break, have a rest or if possible swap drivers. Visit one of the many operating Driver Reviver and Coffee Stop locations around the state.

  • If you are planning to drink, arrange a skipper, organise public transport or stay overnight.

Learn more about WA’s Towards Zero campaign and pick up some great resources, including mints and Road Ribbons for Road Safety, to share with family and loved ones, at our pop-up display in Subiaco Library.
