Subi Blooms bouquets gifted to hospital

The Subi Blooms event, held from Friday 12 May to Sunday 14 May was a resounding success, which drew thousands to the Subiaco town centre to celebrate Mother’s Day and enjoy the incredible floral creations by some of Perth’s best florists.

Following the event, on Monday 15 May, Subiaco Deputy Mayor Stephanie Stroud, along with City of Subiaco staff, made a special visit to King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) to donate a selection of the event flowers to the staff and new mums at the hospital.

“It was my pleasure to visit King Eddies and share the joy of Subi Blooms by distributing the beautiful bouquets of flowers amongst the new mums and staff. We hope they add some brightness to their day,” said Deputy Mayor Stroud. “We also appreciate the opportunity to acknowledge the amazing work of King Eddies’ staff.”

The hospital staff were thrilled to receive the flowers, with many commenting on how much the gesture meant to them. The new mums were also delighted to receive the flowers, which added a special touch and pop of colour to their stay at the hospital.

Mayor David McMullen said, “This year's Subi Blooms was our biggest and best yet. With foot traffic at record numbers (believed to be tens of thousands more than previous years), the event not only created a memorable weekend outing for those enjoying our 14 floral displays; it also gave fantastic exposure to the City of Subiaco - with local shops, cafes and businesses visibly bustling with people. Handing out flowers at KEMH today was a great way to cap off Subi Blooms for another year.”

Women and Newborn Health Service Executive Director Di Barr said, “The flowers from the Subi Blooms event were a very thoughtful and welcome surprise for patients and staff at King Edward Memorial Hospital. The flowers brought smiles to their faces and helped to brighten up their day.’’

This year’s Subi Blooms event saw a total of 14 floral displays placed on Rokeby Road and Hay Streets, a collaboration of 13 Perth florists: The Flower Girl, Sonny & Willow, Sir Botanical, Signature Floral Design, Freakhaus, Hannah Etherington Flowers, Cottage Garden, Maple & Wren, Bohemian Flowers, Pop Floral Studio, Flower Nation, Edie & Ivy Flowers and Bloom Bby.

Subi Blooms is run by See Subiaco, a City of Subiaco initiative.
