School holidays in the City

School holidays are almost here (yes, again!) but there is plenty to keep the whole family busy in the City of Subiaco this spring.

Lords are keeping the kids active, engaged and entertained with a special holiday program centred on developing confidence, coordination and teamwork through both physical and mental games.

Activities include sports carnivals, a Lords royal show, and a talent show, plus there’s a mystery to be solved and treasure to be found…

Enrolments are now open for the program which runs from 27 September to 6 October.

Subiaco Library are running a series of events outdoors to take advantage of the beautiful spring weather, including Intergenerational Storytime with Bille Bob the Giant.

Join the team at the whimsical wooden giant in Theatre Gardens on Friday 29 September for super-sized games, stories about giants, a sing-along and a picnic.

The free family-friendly event is for all, from newborns to those aged 100+.

And if you miss this one, there is another opportunity to play giant games and partake in other outdoor activities in Rankin Gardens on Tuesday 3 October with a drop-in afternoon, or come and get messy with Wild Watercolours on Monday 2 October.

Nearby at Subiaco Museum, a new community series exhibition will be opening its doors just in time for the holidays.

Myra Staffa’s Life’s Objects presents a collection of still life's depicting the objects we collect in our lives and how they can resonate with each other, telling stories of our lives.

Myra has a long career in art education and will be running a free school holiday art workshop for children aged 8 to 16 years on Wednesday 4 October.

October is Bike Month so the City is encouraging everyone to get on their two wheels these holidays.

For kids aged 3 to 5 years there’s a Learn to Ride workshop or, for those a little older and wiser (6 to 10 years), they can develop their bike riding skills in the Fine Tune Your Ride workshop.

Once the whole family’s feeling confident on their bikes, cycle to the Subi Farmers Market on Saturday 7 October to win a $10 voucher if you’re one of the first 100 people to arrive on two wheels.

Whatever you choose to do for the holidays in the City, make sure you stop by one of the fantastic cafes or restaurants to refuel with the family, or explore some of the great retail offerings in our suburbs. See Subiaco can help you plan where to eat and shop (or get some much needed pampering once the holidays are over).
