E-permit parking update

The introduction of e-permits commenced in August 2023 with digital commercial parking permits, followed by residential, visitor and temporary parking permits in November 2023.

The system is part of the City’s plans to improve parking opportunities for people living and working here. It will help to maximise the number of available parking spaces during working hours by ensuring both residents’ and visitors’ parking spaces are being used in accordance with City rules.

While the rules and restrictions around parking permits have not changed, the new system makes it easier to detect misuse – whether intentional or unintentional – and ensures people are on the best type of permit for their individual needs.

The City has been receiving feedback from residents about the e-permit system and has been sharing it with our technology provider, EasyPark, who are making a range of improvements to make the system more user-friendly.

A number of improvements have already been implemented including:
  • removed ‘time out’ limit for sessions
  • enabled consecutive booking of 24-hour visitor parking sessions (previously needed to be booked with 1 minute separation)
  • improved the way dates are displayed for clarity
  • fixed a password reset glitch
  • resolved system lags and email lags.
At the request of users, a favourites list for regular visitors will also be implemented and the user experience of the system homepage will be updated; both of which are expected to be implemented by Friday 8 March.

More updates and improvements will be rolled out by EasyPark over the coming weeks and months.

EasyPark Executive General Manager Craig Logan said, “This is a top priority for EasyPark which has thanked the City of Subiaco Council, residents and visitors for their patience while it works through enhancements and updates to the e-permit system.

“EasyPark recognises the transition to the new system has not been as smooth as was expected and is working with the City to address the challenges and upgrades.”

The City has received some anecdotal feedback of positive changes in parking pressure on residential streets with one resident more easily able to find parking outside his house.

The City’s Compliance Team is not only available but welcomes the community to get one-on-one help when they need it.
