City of Subiaco enters partnership with Dress for Success

The City of Subiaco has initiated a partnership with Dress for Success Western Australia, after previously supporting the organisation within the City’s community development grants program.

Dress for Success, located in Subiaco, is a volunteer-driven charity which empowers vulnerable women with professional clothing, career tools, and confidence for meaningful employment.

This new partnership will provide financial support to Dress for Success for a series of workshops, as well as their regular styling session – which pair volunteer stylists with women who are going for job interviews or their first week at work.

The first workshop focuses on returning to work after a break, and is aimed at older women, caregivers, and women with disrupted work histories. The second workshop, called ‘Working in Australia for the first time’, begins on Wednesday 13 March, and is designed for recent migrants or culturally diverse women.

CEO of Dress for Success Western Australia, Kelli Evans, said, “This partnership will support 16 women, from Subiaco and its surrounding areas, to access personalised job-readiness support programs. With the City of Subiaco’s support, we are providing bespoke workshops, one-to-one career support, and styling appointments for work-appropriate clothing, in our safe and welcoming space in Subiaco.

“Dress for Success Western Australia is a grassroots organisation, and we can’t offer our services without the support of the community. We’re grateful to the City of Subiaco for providing the financial support needed to ensure 16 local women can build their confidence and career tools to take their next steps towards meaningful employment.”

Mayor David McMullen said, “The City’s partnerships program provides valuable funding and support to a variety of local organisations. Through our partnerships, we are able to make coordinated, meaningful contributions in support of good work that is being done out in our community. It is fantastic to welcome Dress for Success to our list of partners.

“From my visits to Dress for Success, I understand that they and their team of hard-working volunteers are doing amazing things – not just helping women dress for work, but in support of women’s employment more broadly.”
