Iconic public artwork, Kite Children, previously located at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, has found a new home outside Subiaco Library thanks to joint funding from the City of Subiaco, the Child and Adolescent Health Service and the Telethon Kids Institute.
The sculpture was designed by Yanchep artist Owen Davies and features two children, one holding a bear and the other grasping the kite’s handle. The top of the artwork, the kite, extends six metres up the side of Subiaco Library.
With the impending relocation of paediatric health care to the new Perth Children’s Hospital, the sculpture represents a very proud part of the city’s history as the centre for paediatric health care in WA and Subiaco’s strong connection with children from all over the state.
