We’re making Rokeby Road a more pedestrian-friendly and welcoming space, breathing new life into our iconic strip. The upgrade will add a contemporary feel to the existing character of the town centre.
Now that the Water Corporation is fnishing its works in the section of Rokeby Road between Roberts and Bagot roads, we’re continuing with our $4 million streetscape upgrade. You can expect to see resurfaced road, planter boxes along the fattened median strip, several raised bays for alfresco dining, improved street furniture and new, multi-use light poles with street banners and other signage.
The city’s work schedule has been designed to minimise disruption for local businesses and visitors, and reach completion as quickly as possible. Core works will take place at night between 11pm and 6am, with additional works during the day and evening. There will be some, short-term road closures during the day. Works are expected to be completed in November.
It’s business as usual for our local shops, cafes and other retailers. Don’t forget about the parking options behind Rokeby Road, including the four town centre car stations on Rowland Street, Barker Road, Park Street and Forrest Square, where the frst hour is free with a valid ticket or EasyPark session.
