A major project to document the history and heritage of Subiaco Oval is well underway and community members are invited to contribute their memories and materials.
The City of Subiaco in partnership with the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has been working with Prue Griffin from Hocking Heritage Studio to compile historic content that tells the story of Subiaco Oval.
While the grounds are intrinsically tied with Australian Rules Football (AFL), community members are encouraged to share content which relates specifically to the other major sporting and entertainment events seen at the grounds over the decades.
Rugby, cricket, lacrosse, and athletics all have a history at Subiaco Oval, as well as the venue hosting some of the biggest concerts and events to come to Perth. Pictured is a moment in time, when the Queen Mother visited Western Australia and students represented a geographical Australia and spelled out the words “God speed’ on Subiaco Oval.
Only copies of items will be retained. If you have something to share, such as information, photographs, newspaper clippings, oral histories, objects and memorabilia, please contact Erica Boyne, Coordinator Museum Services, on 9237 9227 or firstname.lastname@example.org
