Recent news stories have reported that a woman was assaulted in Mueller Park last weekend.

The city is working with local police, who are working hard to catch the offender and making sure the young woman involved is receiving the necessary assistance.

Please remember the following personal safety tips when out and about:

  • Stay alert and tune into your surroundings wherever you are. Do not wear earphones if you are walking home alone at night.
  • Trust your instincts. If something or someone makes you uneasy, avoid the person or situation and leave as soon as possible.
  • Stick to well-lit and well-travelled streets and know where to go for help if you need it.
  • Try to walk with your friends rather than alone.
  • Do not display cash or any other valuables including expensive jewellery. Carry your backpack or purse close to your body and keep it closed.
  • If you think someone is following you, switch directions or cross the street.

The city considers your safety a high priority.
