Each year, the City of Subiaco presents a free summer concert series, sunset@subi, which runs from December to February. The sunday@subi concerts, which formerly ran from June to August, are taking a break for 2017 but watch this space for new event options during the winter months.
The city’s free sunset@subi summer concerts are over for another year after an exciting and well-attended season. The concerts ran every Sunday from Sunday 11 December 2016 to Sunday 12 February 2017 (excluding Sunday 25 December and 1 January).
The season launched on Sunday 11 December with an exciting concert of original modern pop music by Timothy Nelson in the Subiaco Theatre Gardens. The series then presented a special jazzy Christmas on Sunday 18 December with Ruby and the Remedy before taking a short break for the Christmas and New Year period.
The season continued on Sunday 8 January at Lake Jualbup before heading to Cliff Sadlier Reserve and ending in Market Square for the last concert on Sunday 12 February. The season included locally and nationally recognised artists including Xoxote, Jacob Diamond, Elli Schoen, Riley Pearce, The Funk Club House Band, Lucy Peach and The Brow to name a few.
Each year, the family-friendly sunset@subi concerts feature musical genres to suit all tastes including jazz, electronic hip hop, Brazilian dance tunes, folk and the music of Prince. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and a mat or low chairs to enjoy the beautiful Perth evenings. If you forget to bring dinner or are looking for something sweet, you can pick up dessert or coffee from one of the food vans.
